WEEK ONE: EXECUTION

Yesterday was a wild chain of events, wasn't it? Nine hours is a long time to work, but you solved the case and voted for the correct culprit. Lucky you. But the weekend "fun" isn't over just yet.

On Sunday morning, you'll soon hear a sound coming from the dock. There's a large ferry waiting for you, and even if you resist you'll eventually find yourself compelled to climb aboard and set off on a short voyage. The islands around you look fairly blurry, but you don't go very far before you stop at a slab of land with two large buildings stationed. You won't be able to look at the one on the right now, the one you've come to know as the trial bar. Instead, your feet navigate you to the building on the left as the door creaks open. On your way in, you notice some posters hung beside the door, advertising today's event.

Inside is a bar. It's pretty swanky in comparison to the others you've seen, tables and chairs arranged comfortably for everyone to have a seat and spread out however they'd like. The bar is fully stocked with all kinds of alcohol along with an arrangement of bar food for anyone who's feeling a bit peckish. At the head of the room, there appears to be a stage washed in red lights with a wide area for performances.

At a table in the corner all six demons are gathered around.

-Bloody Mary and Midori are seated together, staring intensely at the stage.
-Blue Hawaiian and Malibu Sunset are draped over each other, phones in hand and slightly covered by Cosmopolitan.
-Rosé is seated nearby, looking impatient.

As you find your seats and get yourself something to drink, darkness begins to fill the bar and a banner unfurls over the stage.

But no--Childe doesn't say anything in response to that. He just watches Lu Bixing's shadow closely--and also Gideon beating on the barrier, which makes him frown, but he doesn't move to stop her.]

[ stoooop everyone is too nice and lin jingheng is like the worst and there is so much going on on the stage. everyone is telling him this. you can't help him if you hurt yourself but then what has he seen on lu bixing's body but the remnants of his own example.

[ she can't help but stay quiet for a moment at those words. because, it's true, but she doesn't like that it is. ]

Delaying it will likely not change the outcome.

[ her hands grip together now, wings tightening against her back. ]

she stops, only because there's no point, because her fists hurt, and because things are always, always out of her control. she looks down to persephone, expression wounded. she'd say something, but her words are all tripped up and trapped like her tongue is pasted to the top of her mouth.]

he's kind of lingering back here too, tense, like he'd been deciding whether he was going to bother to watch or not, but. he hasn't made a move.]

[ she winces as the sword swings down and four screams ]

[ squeezes ljh's arm, gently. ]

[ in theory, kon could be the responsible one here. he's surrounded by people with worse tempers than him, so it makes sense, really, that he could account for that and balance it out.

except it's emotion fuckery week, and he sees that blade coming down for both of them. so instead of trying to pull gideon back he slams his left fist into the barrier. ] Move!

she pours him another glass. ]

[ then she fills another, but this one, she does not offer to lin jingheng. this one she drinks herself; unlike ljh, though, she sips at it instead of downing it all at once. her nose wrinkles as the burning sensation fills her throat, but she lets it go down and continues to nurse the drink. ]

[we'll say this is before persephone gets her to stop

now it's both of them, shouting.]

GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THE SWORD, JACKASS, RUN —

[glances at this conversation... and then looks back to the stage where everything is getting worse forever.]

His shadow is just going to kill him if he doesn't get it in his head that he has to fight back.

[ he murmurs softly. ]

She doesn't sound in control... [ as he watches four shriek like a baby???? hello??? ]

[ the hands are just shadowy hands, on his end. there are two of them, first. three. four. five. small, large, from the tiniest child to adult sized, clawing out of the ground and grabbing onto anything they can. onto the shadowy figure. onto four. onto lu bixing. they're accompanied with voices. whimpering. crying.

just lay down and die already, the voice of four's sister tells her.

please help me, says the voice of a child. please, i just need water. a shadowy hand grabs onto lu bixing's calf and pulls, and he struggles against it, recognizing, moving a hand to try and force and manipulate the shadows somehow, someway, and they keep grabbing. the number of hands multiplies, the force of a population, grabbing onto four's ankles and her legs, onto the shadow's. another. another hand, onto the sleeve of bixing's jacket, tearing it off of his body, pulling him downwards like it's quicksand. vaccine. the voices start, in a chorus, low and rumbling, the voices of desperation, vvvvvvvaccineee. vaccine, do you have it, you have to have it, prime minister, prime minister, save me, save me, save me, the virus, you have the vaccine, we stopped it before, can't we stop it, we can stop it are we just animals to you?!

he grits his teeth as he's being pulled, down, dragged to his knees - trying to pilot the shadows and fight them off at the same time, as they claw him down to his feet. the hands grab for purchase onto four and touch flesh, spreading fingertips into anything that's showing, burning heat like a fever, and zero's sword swings -

- and he can't really dodge it, not like this (couldn't control the outbreak, it felt like) but it doesn't matter. another voice.

cool and familiar. lin jingheng. you're immune to the virus, aren't you?

he tries to grab for control of the shadows to force them to pull him down, and the sword that swings in a wide arc digs into his shoulder, instead of what should've taken off his head. lu bixing makes a choked off noise and leans into it, lets the metal rend through flesh, lets blood splatter the wall behind him, lets it dig and hurt and then jerks his body to yank himself free, lets the hands grab on tighter to four and to the shadowy sister and pulls. ]

[looks at how things are proceeding.]

Well, at this rate, he's going to get himself killed in some way.

Though perhaps if he's fortunate, Four's shadow will be cruel enough to make killing her seem like a mercy.

Lavi also looks over at Gideon, and you know what, yeah. That's exactly how he's feeling. Only years of training keeps him rooted to the spot, he keeps looking, but then he hears Four scream, and his gaze swings back around. ara sisi i demand you both to stop doing this to us]

[ persephone looks up at gideon, craning her neck to meet the other girl's eyes. she just looks into them for an extended moment, then lifts her hand. she extends it, slowly, stopping just short of resting it on gideon's forearm. ]

[ persephone gets her to stop but how long's that gonna work after

it's just his fist against the barrier, still for a moment, and then he sucks in a breath when he sees red, literal red, subclavian artery, axillary artery, thoracoacromial artery, brachial artery and nerves - ]

he's tense as he watches the exchange of blows, and then how the shadows take center stage,]

[she says, quietly. she appreciates being asked. she has to close her eyes for a second, though, because the sound of what feels like a thousand children crying and begging for help makes her want to throw up.]

[ he just watches the scene in front of them, as lu bixing is dragged down by these shadowy hands, all of them crowing for him. in among them, he hears his own voice. ]

Lu Bixing, don't listen to them. Don't let them distract you...

[ oh he is so upset. he just. tries to unpinch his shoulders. it feels impossible... and he turns to look at persephone quietly. ]

These fucking shadows...

[selfdestructs]

[ there it is. the sword comes down and buries itself in lbx's shoulder and dva gasps loudly, hands coming up to cover her mouth. ]

[ARA AND SISI ARE REALLY OUT HERE!! And so are their shadows, which are even more ruthless than last time? Wow. Even Childe isn't immune to this scene--he looks away as Lu Bixing's tiny shadows beg him for help, instead focusing his attention temporarily on the demons, as if to ground himself and remember where they are.]

[ everyone is screaming and crying and throwing up while he remains irritated.

finally, like the rest, he’s got to put his two cents in: ] You’re the only one who’d give her the most peaceful death.

Bixing! [ as the sword comes down!!! great! woohoo! this fucking blows!!!

he takes a hand, carefully holding d.va's shoulder, keeping her close and steady. ]

[well, she's still now - she has her hands pressed up against the barrier. she's muttering something under her breath but it might be hard to hear unless he's listening hard.]
