WEEK TWO - TRIAL

Hello, deadlings. Wow. Just...wow.

You may have been wondering what you could possibly do in the aftermath of yesterday's beek. Your demons weren't entirely helpful, and it seems that there were no answers to be found. But on Saturday morning at 11am, you'll soon hear a sound coming from the dock. There's a large ferry waiting for you, and even if you resist you'll eventually find yourself compelled to climb aboard and set off on a short voyage. The islands around you look fairly blurry, but you don't go very far before you stop at a slab of land with two large buildings stationed. The Execution Bar is locked tight and you won't be able to head in that direction. Instead, once again, your feet navigate you to the building on the right as the door creaks open.

Inside is a bar. It's dimly lit in several places, but bright enough for you to see each other and navigate without running into the furniture. Tables and chairs are scattered around in front of the bar counter, and the floor is far less sticky than the bar on the other island. Stained glass windows decorate the walls depicting images of humanity's suffering, and concrete crosses and tombstones are gathered in the corners. The bar itself is fully stocked with all types of alcohol and mixers, along with an array of bar food to help keep your energy up.

At the head of the room lounging among the statues of saints and the Blessed Virgin are Blue Hawaiian, Cosmopolitan and Midori.

Above them hangs another hand-painted banner, sloppily thrown together.

You can try to leave, but the door to the bar has been locked. All of the windows are reinforced, and there isn't another way out. You've been called here for one reason...let the misery begin!

Hello, and welcome to your third trial! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will have the opportunity to discuss, investigate and theorize about this week's murder! Characters will have time to examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations.

There will be a mod-tag break between 4pm EST/1pm PST to 5pm EST/2pm PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.

Finally, we have a voting page for characters to vote on the culprit! Please be sure to read this page carefully and that your vote is in by the time trial finishes (9pm EST/6pm PST).

onsen report

Like I mentioned, Lavi and I found a large puddle of blood outside at the onsen, near the dividing fence. Some of the decorative rocks and plants nearby were also disturbed, though there was nothing else wrong with them. There wasn't anything in the water, I had Lavi check both pools.

There were a couple puddles of pink-tinted water closer to the door leading inside, and the lobby at the entrance was-- a mess. All the furniture was broken. No wetness or blood there, and it didn't seem like furniture had been thrown around.

[gesturing to the end table lavi brought back-]

There were shallow scratches on a piece or two that we could probably compare to objects, if we needed to. Don't know if it'd exactly do much, but it's there.

[Lavi is sitting on the end table, though he'll get off if anyone wants to examine it.]

Pretty sure the blood puddle's where the Octo-Cosmos was. It looked to be around the same size when I looked, though someone can see the photos.

No arm or missing tentacle, in all the broken furniture? Was it all just... smashed?

Nothing but the furniture itself. We came back to go through it a second time, and we checked the other rooms of the onsen.

Worth having something to reference, at least. [ looks at the end table ] We'll have to see if any of the bigger weapons are a match or not.

[i forgot to say that he's drenched help, he wipes at his face, probably smearing the make-up]

Just smashed. But we saw some scratches on the floor too, kind of shallow. I looked in both pools and didn't see any arm or tentacle, and Ryn searched the hot spring area and the waiting room.

[ you fucking boob. pauses, and then reaches with his hoodie sleeve cuff to wipe some of the running makeup off his face. ]

So we've got some more looking to do.

Don't think it's going to be his room we go check, Lavi.

[ stares yaywon directly in the eye from kentucky while kon kinda helps clean the smudges off. ]

But we should definitely ask about heading to check rooms.

[He's just squeegeeing water off his shirt when he looks up, brow furrowed. And he looks around the room, wow, tension?]

The octopus did chase Lulu, Kon, and myself all the way to the onsen...so it wouldn't surprise me if it was from that. And if so...that would mean the real Cosmos died in the aquarium.

That'd make sense, since we found his notebook there. Did we check his pockets? The first body -- the octopus didn't have anything in his, right?

From impacts, it looked like? It was all a mess, but it was also all roughly where it should have been, so it didn't seem like someone throwing things around...

So like someone got smashed into the furniture instead...?

Maybe? But if that happened, they didn't bleed on anything.

...so did they just fuck up the furniture to mess with us or what?

If there were an ongoing struggle-- I think we should have seen more signs of it. There were things disturbed outside, but they were comparatively small... it's possible one party was knocked unconscious if something did occur in the lobby, but otherwise, it doesn't seem fully connected to me.
