WEEK FIVE - MINGLE

Rise and shine, little deadlings. Were you able to rest easy knowing you let one mystery go unsolved? Hmm...never fear. Satan's grace has shined upon you and you have more opportunities to show just why you deserve an invite to the house party.

For those of you who slept in the dorm last night, when you make your way downstairs to head off for the day you'll be greeted with a new message on the white board in the common room.

But out the door you go for another busy week. At the dock, there's a ferry happily floating on the lava and waiting for you to climb aboard. While there are still several islands in your line of vision you can't quite see, it seems as though the ferry can now shuttle you between all of the previous islands and a new location called Animal Kingdom. A wild time awaits you. Though should you find yourselves returning to more familiar bars, you may find a new menu item awaits them!

With the new week comes new change, of course. You've probably grown accustom to this by now (or maybe you haven't even noticed the correlation of the weekly changes.) But at least you no longer have to struggle with your insecurities and flounder uselessly to prove you're #1. After all who cares, right? You obviously know you're #1. Nobody can argue with you on that one. Look at you. You're here! You're strong! You're powerful! Nothing can stand in your way this week, and you find yourself filled to the brim with all the confidence in the world. Some may even call it being over-assertive, seeing how you'll find yourself acting on inhibitions you may not before and being more assured in everything that you do. In the animal world? Some may even call you the alpha.

It almost seems as though it's simply meant to be an annoyance...to everyone else.

Good morning everybody, and welcome to your week five mingle! A few notes for clarity.

-This week's effect is heightened confidence, or what we lovingly call "alpha week." While it does not have to be a consistent thing, this week your character will swing back from all of their insecurities by being filled with overconfidence (and sometimes arrogance.) Now's the time to see how bold you can be and push the envelope a little. Your hubris doesn't matter here.

Plenty of practice~ [ around and around they go... ] Our club used to hold formal events like this, so we all had to know how to dance. I'm a little surprised you know how to lead this well though.

Your club sounds way more fun than any of the clubs at my school!

[he chuckles]

Dad made sure I knew how to dance. I used to get dragged along to a bunch of his parties and stuff. Politicians, you know? 'Course, that was before I started dressing up.

It's really the only reason we bothered joining. Everything else sounded so boring and we didn't want to participate.

[ there's a low hum though. ] Always about appearances, right? What made you decide to change the look?

Yay for the "go-home club"!

[he chuckles.]

Well... I've always been interested in fashion. And my mom left a lot of her dresses with me when she left me with Dad. [...] One thing led to another, and I realized... they'd look good on me, too, 'cause I look a lot like Mom. It kind of felt like I was closer to her when I wore them.

[ they're dancing and kuranosuke's explaining and there's something in his face that changes a little. the expression flickers from a look of curiosity to something akin to understanding and then back to neutrality as he nods along. ]

That makes sense. [ lightly. ] ...this isn't really polite party conversation, but how long has it been since you've seen her?

...saw her not too long before I died. But before that, it was, like... fifteen years?

[he's quiet for a few long moments.]

S'part of why I want to drink Satan under the table and go back so bad. I didn't reunite with her after so long just to kick the bucket and never see her again.

You're not even that old. [ thank you, blue twin. ] That's a pretty long time to go.

[ but kuranosuke said "part of", so. ]

What's the other part?

Yeah... I was pretty young when my dad took me in.

[sad.]

Well... y'know. My friends. I'd just moved in with them. Our fashion brand was really kicking off, too... things were really looking up.

[twinsightful]

[ sad...not that he says that, but he files that away for later and decides to talk about something a little lighter. ]

Those otakus, right? And the jellyfish girl.

Yeah, them.

[he sounds fond.]

We were getting my stuff moved in! When I get back, we're gonna have a blast. Even if they'll probably assume I'm, like, haunting them for a few weeks befoer they accept I'm actually back.

[ a mischievous grin follows. ]

That sounds like exactly the perfect time to pretend you're a ghost. It'd be kind of funny.

[ mostly because he thinks they would then be relieved kuranosuke's around at all. ]

Oh, it'll be hysterical. I am absolutely recording it when I get back.

Are they easy to scare with that kind of thing?

[ gossip with him, this is now way more interesting than talking about politics and shitty dads. ]

Oh, yeah, totally. I think some of them start out just trying to play along, but they have, like, super active imaginations, and then they freak themselves out. It's so funny!

Okay, even better, that's when you plan a really big prank to pull on them but you start out slow and let it build to hit when they least expect it!
