WEEK FIVE - TRIAL

Hello, deadlings. Ready to work double-time?
You may have been wondering what you could possibly do in the aftermath of yesterday's beek. Your demons weren't entirely helpful, and it seems that there were no answers to be found. But on Saturday morning at 11am, you'll soon hear a sound coming from the dock. There's a large ferry waiting for you, and even if you resist you'll eventually find yourself compelled to climb aboard and set off on a short voyage. The islands around you look fairly blurry, but you don't go very far before you stop at a slab of land with two large buildings stationed. The Execution Bar is locked tight and you won't be able to head in that direction. Instead, once again, your feet navigate you to the building on the right as the door creaks open.
Inside is a bar. It's dimly lit in several places, but bright enough for you to see each other and navigate without running into the furniture. Tables and chairs are scattered around in front of the bar counter, and the floor is far less sticky than the bar on the other island. Stained glass windows decorate the walls depicting images of humanity's suffering, and concrete crosses and tombstones are gathered in the corners. The bar itself is fully stocked with all types of alcohol and mixers, along with an array of bar food to help keep your energy up.
At the head of the room lounging among the statues of saints and the Blessed Virgin are Bloody Mary, Cosmopolitan and Midori. With them is also a cut-out of Guy Fieri, dressed as a (sexy?) samurai with a bunch of cool flames cut out of construction paper glued to his back as he walks away from an explosion. He is also holding a sign that says "YOU CAN SOLVE IT!" However, there are now paper tears glued to his face as well. And he looks ready to fall apart.
The second, fresher Fieri is also still here. Why.
Above them hangs another hand-painted banner, sloppily thrown together.
12pm - 9pm
Vote or suffer eternal damnation
You can try to leave, but the door to the bar has been locked. All of the windows are reinforced, and there isn't another way out. You've been called here for one reason...let the misery begin!
Hello, and welcome to your sixth trial! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will have the opportunity to discuss, investigate and theorize about this week's murders! Characters will have time to examine the bodies of the victim and explore relevant locations.
There will be a mod-tag break between 4pm EST/1pm PST to 5pm EST/2pm PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.
Finally, we have a voting page for characters to vote on the culprit! Please be sure to read this page carefully and that your vote is in by the time trial finishes (9pm EST/6pm PST).
Good luck, and have fun!

FOREST BIOME
there is some blood on the floor outside of the forest biome. good choice! ]
no subject
[how's this blood look? is it a pool, drops, streaks, splatter? is there a trail for us to follow?
looking around the outside of the biome, is anything else immediately out of place about this entrance/hallway space?]
no subject
Yeah. [ great. is there any sign of smoke or fire in the actual biome entrance at all, or anything obviously out of place on first glance in that direction? ]
no subject
there is indeed some smoke coming out from under the door. not a lot, but... nothing else out of place in the hall. ]
no subject
anyway, he'll pull up his scarf over his mouth and nose, and give lu bixing a chance to make any preparations he wants. nodding to the smoke, then to him.]
Ready?
no subject
he flashes zel a thumbs up! let's go.
what's on fire
also are there any like obvious paths or ways to go in the forest biome, like footpaths or areas that are disturbed or anything beyond Being On Fire? ]
no subject
they open up the door and are immediately hit with smoke to the face! the fire has not taken over the whole forest somehow, and is pretty contained to a spot near the door.
there's a sort of clearing in the middle of the biome, surrounded by trees, since the biome is designed to look like a forest from certain angles. it's the ideal forest gazing spot! but there isn't a clear path, just dirt.
dirt that is disturbed. ]
no subject
then he'll walk on in and... might as well start by looking at the fiery elephant in the room. how much fire is there? what all is burning in this spot, as far as he can see?]
no subject
lu bixing winces a little at the sight. dead dove inside don't open i dont know what i expected ] You got it, Zelgadis? Be careful.
[ he is like, a rock, and lu bixing trusts zel to investigate things more than he has trusted other people he's investigated with, so he will leave him to this. snapping a picture, first, but:
how's the dirt disturbed? is it footprints. does it look like someone could have fallen in it? is there any pattern or is it just random? where is it in relation to the fire? ]
no subject
but as he inspects he will find a couple things near the fire. some burned bits of wool, and some broken glass.
lbx sees that the dirt is disturbed like... footprints! zelgadis can see the start of these prints as well, since they start by the fire. they don't move in a straight line, but move a bit chaotically further into the biome where the biggest dirt disturbances are.
since he specifically looking for signs that someone fell - past that, closer to the glass window of the biome at the farthest end, it does look like someone could have fallen, with an indent that lbx could read as an impact spot. there is quite a bit of blood soaked into the dirt over there as well. ]
no subject
he'll take off his gloves and roll up his sleeves. and go on in to gather up the burnt wool and broken glass.
anything else in here to note? any signs of something that could have started the fire, or any possible sources of the broken glass? is the biome window around here intact? (i'm assuming we haven't gone too far in so there's probably one like right by this fire?)
does the smoke of the fire just smell like burning plants, or is there anything else noticeable about it?]
no subject
but that definitely wouldn't happen!
so bixing ignores it and goes back to investigating. okay!!! so!!!! feet. he will put his foot near one of the prints for comparison. are they full prints? is it all from roughly one size of foot, or does it look like there are multiple? he will measure these like a fucking nerd also and take down the measurements for use later. do they lead to that larger impact spot?
as for the larger impact spot. it's by the window - is the window broken? is there any sign of someone touching the wall of the biome/grabbing for the window? any blood on the wall... of the biome i dont know how that works. is there anything in the dirt over here besides the impact print? he'll take a pic of this part of the scene too. ]
no subject
since he's looking real close at the ground, he also notices that one of these footprints has something pink in it!
the biomes are all side by side along a straight hall, so the back wall and side walls between them aren't glass - they're just walls that are pretty well hidden with trees/plants/etc. but there is no damage to any of those. the only glass wall is the one all the way across the room that looks out on the 'guest area' of the 'zoo.' from a distance, it does not appear to be broken.
lu bixing inspects the prints! it looks like there are two foot sizes at play here. and so much movement that it's hard to get a good measurement. he can try, but he psychically knows that the ranges might be pretty wide.
the footprints move over the very disturbed dirt and then do indeed lead him to the impact/blood spot, yes.
from closer up, the window is not broken. however there is some kind of smudge on it. none blood on the walls or glass over here either.
looking at the dirt near the impact spot, lbx finds a phone! ]
no subject
he's gonna try to get a closer look at this pink thing. what does it look like.]
no subject
okay, he will take the phone. thank you. he'll check to see what the lock screen is/turn the screen on to see if it's kon's....? and then take a picture of the smudge. can he tell what it is or will that need to be taken back to evidence?
with that in hand bixing turns back around to look at the very large disturbed dirt that i definitely didn't miss because i can't read. he'll take a pic of it, but what's going on with this. how is it disturbed? is it around the footprints/where is it in relation to it? ]
no subject
lbx inspects this sweet new phone he found. the lockscreen is a selfie with D.Va and Yoru in dinosaur kigus going 'rawr'. who's to say who this phone belongs to. could be anyone's.
lbx will probably have an easier time investigating this smudge while it's in front of him rather than from a photo. it looks like it's something white? and it's kind of in the shape of an L.
as he heads back to the disturbed dirt, he finds along the way, atop the ground: a small piece of coal. also: some broken glass. it's another broken test tube, this one with a cork labeled L.
when he reaches the more disturbed, kind of upturned dirt, it looks like it was mostly done by a lot of movement - the footprints are all over here. looks like there was enough movement to really make the ground uneven. jeez. ]
no subject
he'll just stick a finger in it and smell it. what's it smell like.]
no subject
he feels very soft and sad about this lock screen but pockets the phone carefully for now. what's the texture of the L by looking? is it powdery? streaky like liquid? is there any viscosity to it?
onwards. he'll pick up the coal, and look at the test tube, and then look around. hmmm... ]
... Don't tell me he didn't put the molecular label on these... [ >:/ do better
but ok. picking those up to investigate for later, too thanks.
this is so scary IS THERE LIKE, SOMETHING IN THE DIRT? IS THERE SOMETHING BURIED HERE? WHY IS IT SO UNEVEN? he will get down to check on this more closely....???? ]
no subject
the print on the glass looks mostly powdery. maybe a little liquid? but mostly powder.
lbx digs in the dirt and finds pretty close to the surface: a metal spudger! neat. ]
no subject
well, he's gonna come over to see what lbx is doing. there's just this strawberry goo on his finger still.]
Smells like strawberry. Somebody stepped in ice cream, maybe...
[anyway, what's going on over here.]
no subject
[ thinking...
for the L though, now that he has a picture of it, is it okay to scrape a little bit of a sample with his crab multi tool into one of the fast food baggies wax paper things? he can't really go sniffing it considering he's got a big mask on so we'll bring it back to evidence...
in the meantime he will take this spudger thank you. ]
Here, I found a spudger - we should see if we can find his tool kit, too, I think that's what it's from.
[ my NERD!!!!
is there anything else in the dirt that is so very uneven? ] We should check the treeline, too, just to be safe...
no subject
but he has obtained spudger!
lbx may dig around more in the dirt if he likes, but he does not find anything more in there. enjoy your dirt. ]
no subject
and he'll just walk over and grab one of those baggies and rub the pink goo off on it. there, evidence collected.
looking at the smudge on the glass...]
Should we check the other side?
no subject
[ O: ] Did you find any test tubes over there, by any chance...? [ he'll show him the pieces of the one he collected with the L on it.
and then nods! and looks a little excited but mostly in the way of let's-go-discover-something excited. ]
Let's.
[ mods i have to ask did it look like an L from this side (so the side this smudge wasn't made on?) slash if they do go outside and look at the glass where the smudge was made, does it look like an L in reverse? or is it the other way around? i drew a picture of this on my window with a dry erase marker if you need a picture explanation. method rp
also can he now take a sample if they're allowed to go to the other side, ]
no subject
zelgadis and lbx head outside so that i can tell you what it's like from this new angle. the smudge on the glass now looks like an ⅃.
it's difficult to take a sample of a smudge on glass. but sure he can have. a couple specks of white powder. careful not to lose them. ]
