WEEK TWO - TRIAL

Hello, deadlings. Wow. Just...wow.

You may have been wondering what you could possibly do in the aftermath of yesterday's beek. Your demons weren't entirely helpful, and it seems that there were no answers to be found. But on Saturday morning at 11am, you'll soon hear a sound coming from the dock. There's a large ferry waiting for you, and even if you resist you'll eventually find yourself compelled to climb aboard and set off on a short voyage. The islands around you look fairly blurry, but you don't go very far before you stop at a slab of land with two large buildings stationed. The Execution Bar is locked tight and you won't be able to head in that direction. Instead, once again, your feet navigate you to the building on the right as the door creaks open.

Inside is a bar. It's dimly lit in several places, but bright enough for you to see each other and navigate without running into the furniture. Tables and chairs are scattered around in front of the bar counter, and the floor is far less sticky than the bar on the other island. Stained glass windows decorate the walls depicting images of humanity's suffering, and concrete crosses and tombstones are gathered in the corners. The bar itself is fully stocked with all types of alcohol and mixers, along with an array of bar food to help keep your energy up.

At the head of the room lounging among the statues of saints and the Blessed Virgin are Blue Hawaiian, Cosmopolitan and Midori.

Above them hangs another hand-painted banner, sloppily thrown together.

You can try to leave, but the door to the bar has been locked. All of the windows are reinforced, and there isn't another way out. You've been called here for one reason...let the misery begin!

Hello, and welcome to your third trial! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will have the opportunity to discuss, investigate and theorize about this week's murder! Characters will have time to examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations.

There will be a mod-tag break between 4pm EST/1pm PST to 5pm EST/2pm PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.

Finally, we have a voting page for characters to vote on the culprit! Please be sure to read this page carefully and that your vote is in by the time trial finishes (9pm EST/6pm PST).

[ midori leads them to a ferry to subnutica, then through the long tunnel up to the surface of the island! wow, it's your onsen!

they enter the waiting room first. whatcha looking at? ]

[first things first, at lavi:]

Do what you need to do here and I won't fuss at you about it, but if you hurt yourself worse in the process we're going to talk about it later.

[there will be words. he moves on to looking around, though, looking over the waiting room for anything clearly out of place-- he was just here last night, so is anything disturbed, is anything on the floor, so on? he'll be looking at the floor before stepping anywhere just in case.]

[Lavi grins back, albeit a little weakly.]

I'll be careful, promise. Been sitting on my ass all day, so I've got more than enough energy for this.

[Lavi will do a quick ceiling check, and also look around to see if there's like... any more blood or water on the floor leading to any of the other rooms,]

[ at a glance, rynlan sees that the lobby is a mess! it was very minimalist so this stands out. the furniture and TV are broken.

there isn't anything on the ceiling, and no blood in here. ]

-well, this wasn't us.

[heading over to check the furniture and tv, once again careful not to step anything. is it every piece of furniture in here that's broken, or just most? does it look like things were thrown around or like things were broken roughly where they stood before?]

...Damn.

[THAT'S A MESS, Lavi will walk into the (looks at location) rec room and look inside to see if there's any more damage or anything else that would stand out,]

[ rynlan checks the furniture in the lobby. every piece of furniture is broken, though that may just be because there is so little furniture in here. minimalism...

it looks like things were broken where they stood.

lavi wanders off and into the rec room. there is no damage in here. everything looks perfectly tidy! ]

[is there anything else with the broken pieces? or is everything on the floor part of the broken furniture? nothing in here that looks like it would've broken things?

if all of these answers are no he's moving on to checking the vacant rooms, they can split these if lavi wants to help with that.]

Nothing in the ping pong room.

[he doesn't know it's called rec room, but yeah he'll check the other vacant rooms at the same time Rynlan does,]

[ it doesn't look there's anything but the broken bits of... like, a chair. a coffee table. the TV. nothing that wasn't in this room last night.

they move on to check vacant rooms one by one! and find them to be untouched. ]

What, did they just-- break things in here and move on? Let's go outside. We can search the furniture more if we need to after.

[out to the hot spring part! with caution as usual, to avoid stepping in Mess. is there anything apparent as he heads outside?

since a handprint was mentioned before he's keeping an eye on the walls as well, just in case.]

They said two sets of footprints led to the onsen, right? Might be where they fought, if the octopus was still alive then.

[Lavi will cautiously follow Rynlan out as well, and crouch near the edge of the spring to peer into it, to try and see if there are any Objects at the bottom... or floating...]

[ they head out to the hot springs, finding nothing more out of place until they are outside. no handprints on the walls on the way. outside, their surroundings do look a bit disheveled.

rynlan will have to side-step some puddles!

lavi checks in the water, but there isn't anything floating in there. ]

Wet ones, yes, so I don't guess it's surprising we didn't see any-- didn't they also mention blood? But that trail could have dried up as well.

[disheveled in what sense, compared to last night? can he note what in particular is out of place here?]

Blood...

[Lavi will bend down and examine one of the puddles Rynlan had to side-step then. Is it just water?]

[ rynlan just saw this last night, so he notices that some of the decorative plants and rocks are askew.

lavi checks one of the puddles. it's mostly water, but it is a little pink. ]

...don't think those were like that last night.

[he's heading over to investigate the plants and rocks, careful of puddles.]

[he manifested blood nice...]

...Think I found the trail.

[just to be sure, he'll check the other puddles too for any slight pinkness?? also are the puddles all grouped together in one spot or are they like forming a trail]

[ some stones and plant decorations are out of place... but that's about all rynlan can discern, looking at them. they've been knocked over? weird.

the other puddles are scattered and are also tinged with pink... lavi follows them to: a big puddle of blood, over near the fence that separates the boys and girls sections of the hot spring. ]

It's a little disturbed, here. Looks like things were knocked over.

[how far are these from the tinted puddles? if he moves them to put them back instead of just looking, is anything underneath?]

[oh boy, Lavi will call out over his shoulder first]

...I found blood! Lots of it.

[He'll carefully approach the puddle. If he compares it to like the size of Nameless using his stupid eidetic memory, then how big would it be in comparison...]

[ the displaced stones and decorative plants are all on the half of the hot spring that is closer to the Gender Fence, so they're not like... right beside the puddles, but they're not very far from them, either. the other half of the hot spring, further from the fence, does not have any out of place stones or decorations.

there's nothing underneath any of them! but if he puts them all back in place, it makes the area look just a little bit tidier. thanks, rynlan!

lavi enters his mind palace of Boy Sizes and deduces that this blood puddle is of comparable size to Nameless. it's a lot of blood, but it has kind of spread across the stone ground, as blood does, so it hasn't exactly retained shape... but it's pretty big. ]

...then something definitely happened here.

[love that. he's knocking a couple plants back over like they just were, and pulling out his phone to get a picture of the puddle (lavi for scale) with the disturbed decorations still in the frame to show where they are relative to it. then another of just the puddle (also with lavi for scale.)

how is the separation done, is there a second exit from the inn or a door out here or something?]

Might want to check the other side to be sure. What about the water, can you make sure nothing is at the bottom while we're here?

starts taking off his shirt and pants,]

[lavi will Enter the spring itself and swim to the bottom to see with his one eye and fcking eyepatch if any objects or weapons are possibly on the bottom!]

i didn't think enough about how that separation is done but yeah there's probably another door from inside to exit out to the other side of the fence. there is also a door in the fence to just cross from side to side any time.

lavi has a nice relaxing dip in the hot spring. he finds nothing, but the water feels very nice. ]
